![]() ![]() Hello Everyone ~ I hope your new year is off to a good start. Waste Not’s started off with a bang! We were tremendously fortunate to be named the lead agency for the recovery of all perishable food for events related to Super Bowl XLII. With the focus on the glitz and glamour of such a wide array of events and venues, it was very rewarding that the organizers worked with us to make sure that their excess food did not go to waste. Many people joined in to help us with this enormous effort that resulted in an amazing 93,387 pounds of food being rescued – all of which went to help feed our hungry neighbors. The NFL does an amazing job of leaving their Super Bowl cities much improved after the game. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with them. It’s hard to believe but it’s time once more for Waste Not’s premier fundraiser, our Celebrity Chef Challenge. The campaign takes place the month of April and pairs restaurants and their media partners in a friendly competition to see who can raise the most money to help Waste Not feed the hungry. Please watch our website for a full listing of 2008 participants and dine out often in April. We’re counting on you! Lastly, we are kicking off another fundraiser, our inaugural “Chip in for Waste Not” – a 9-hole night golf tournament to be held at Continental Country Club on Thursday, May 1st. Cost is $75 per player. Watch our website where you will be able to register online. It will be great fun and an opportunity for our many friends to join together in support of our mission of feeding the Valley’s hungry. I hope to see you there! We tremendously appreciate your support and wish you a joyful and prosperous 2008! Warm regards, Dee Mitten Executive Director |
