Together, we make an impressive difference in our community.

Waste Not is fortunate to receive support from many sectors within our community. We are proud to feature just a few of these important partners who enable us to provide uninterrupted service to the members of our recipient network who depend upon us daily for hope as well as sustenance. For a full listing of all donors, please scroll to the conclusion of our highlights.

US Airways

Chili's Grill & Bar

Chili’s Restaurants, owned by Brinker International, are a true community partner of Waste Not.  In 2010 as well as 2011, Chili’s restaurants throughout the Valley teamed up with Waste Not to help raise money to feed the ever-increasing number of hungry men, women and children in our Valley.  ChiliHeads throughout the Valley embraced Waste Not’s mission by spreading the word among their customers about the overwhelming issue of hunger right here in our own back yard.  Their dedication, hard work and focus on helping our community resulted in $34,000 being donated to Waste Not!  This Valley-wide team effort and support is appreciated beyond measure  Go ChiliHeads!  Brinker International has also committed their support of Waste Not in 2012.

US Airways

US Airways

US Airways invests in community organizations and initiatives to enhance the quality of life in the airline’s hub markets and focus cities of Boston, Charlotte, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.  US Airways is committed to arts and culture, health and human services, and education and that commitment is reflected through annual financial and travel donations on behalf of US Airways’ giving programs and foundations.

For the fifth year in a row, US Airways selected Waste Not as their charity of choice in the corporate partner arm of the Birdies for Charities campaign that was held in conjunction with the Waste Management  Phoenix Open in February  2011.  As a result US Airways donated $25,000 to Waste Not and the Thunderbird Charities added $12,500 in matching funds.

We value this strong commitment by US Airways and we are proud to recognize US Airways as the official airline of Waste Not!

Season for Sharing

Season for Sharing

Waste Not has received annual grants from The Arizona Republic/12 News Season For Sharing for the past 11 years, totaling $225,000.  In April 2011, grants of $2,668,000 were presented to representatives from 137 Valley-wide agencies serving victims of domestic violence, children and families, the elderly, and literacy and education programs.

Waste Not is proud to be a member of the Season for Sharing family and tremendously grateful to receive this support as we do our part in helping make our community a better place for all of us.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Bank of America Merrill Lynch

In August 2011 Bank of America Merrill Lynch's grant of $10,000 helped Waste Not reach its matching funds goal for the purchase of its final replacement truck. Now for the first time in years, Waste Not is operating with a fleet of brand new trucks. Bank of America believes in neighborhood excellence - strong neighborhoods develop leaders who, together with their friends, colleagues and local nonprofits and businesses, build vibrant, healthy communities where we all live and work. They believe developing relationships with and investing in local nonprofits/charitable organizations, recognizing and training leaders and partnering with national organizations builds healthy communities.

Waste Not is grateful for Bank of America's trust and recognition. Thank you.

Phoenix Suns Charities

Phoenix Suns Charities

The announcement marks the most successful season in Phoenix Suns Charities 23-year history of funding community projects for children and families.

Thank you Phoenix Suns Charities for your support!

Trends Charitable Fund

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is actively involved philanthropically in the local communities where they do business. Their first priority is to support programs and organizations whose chief purpose is to benefit low and moderate-income individuals and families and those that keep our communities strong, diverse and vibrant.  One of their priorities in support of social and human service organizations is meeting the basic needs of people within the community.

Wells Fargo continues to help Waste Not sustain its newly-implemented route expansion and has provided $10,000 over the past two years.  When the basic needs of vulnerable people in our community are consistently met, our recipient agency partners are then able to help their clients focus on Wells Fargo’s other priorities – becoming strong, trained productive members of their communities.  Thank you Wells Fargo for your commitment to Waste Not.

Medtronic Foundation

The Medtronic Foundation of Minneapolis, MN, recently awarded Waste Not a $1,000 grant in celebration of their Medtronic Momentum Award, which was awarded locally in honor of Paul Liska.  The Medtronic Momentum Awards celebrate employees who put Medtronic’s community service mission into motion.  These exceptional individuals demonstrate and inspire others to act.  We are proud and honored that Paul has embraced Waste Not and our very vital mission of feeding the hungry men, women and children of our Valley.  He is an inspiration to all of us.

Congratulations, Paul, and keep up the good work!

A&B Foundation

A & B Foundation

In 1870 Alexander & Baldwin began in Maui as a sugar-growing partnership between Samuel T. Alexander and Henry P. Baldwin, evolving into a multi-market transportation and real estate company.  Over the last two decades alone they have donated close to $40 million to non-profit organizations – primarily in Hawaii and on the West Coast, contributing to a better quality of life in the communities in where they operate.

For the past seven years, the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation's faithful annual support has helped to ensure that the most vulnerable men, women and children in our community get the nutrition they need so they can get on the road to self-sufficiency and a brighter future.  Thank you A & B for your faithful support!

Walmart

Walmart

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are proud to support the charitable causes that are important to customers and associates in their own neighborhoods. The Walmart Foundation funds initiatives focused on education, workforce development, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and health and wellness. From Feb. 1, 2009 through Jan. 31, 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $512 million in cash and in-kind gifts globally, $467 million of which was donated in the U.S.

In response to Waste Not’s need for a second replacement truck in 2010, the Walmart Foundation issued a challenge grant in the amount of $25,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle, asking us to find matching funds to complete the purchase. Many Waste Not friends stepped up to meet that challenge and now a brand new refrigerated truck is on the road, delivering hope and sustenance to those who need it most!

Thank you Walmart Foundation for your dedication to helping our neighbors in need.

Nina Mason Pullium Foundation

Nina Mason Pullium Charitable Trust

The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust seeks to help people in need, especially women, children and families; to protect animals and nature; and to enrich community life in the metropolitan areas of Indianapolis and Phoenix.

In the second of three grant rounds in 2010 the trust granted $1,750,000 to 28 Arizona nonprofits organizations.  We are exceedingly thankful that the Trust designated Waste Not as the recipient of a $50,000 grant for the replacement of our oldest refrigerated truck – a vehicle that had clocked thousands of miles and was requiring expensive repairs that we could no longer sustain.  Our new truck is now on the road, efficiently delivering hope and sustenance to the men, women and children in our Valley who need it most.

Waste Not has had a very fulfilling, longstanding relationship with the Trust.  In 1999 they recognized the value of Waste Not’s mission and began a supportive, guiding relationship with us. The Trust has not only provided strong financial support, including funds to purchase a new truck in 2000 – 2001, but also walked beside us through a significant capacity-building process as we became a fully-professionalized organization.

BHHS Legacy Foundation

BHHS Legacy Foundation - Supports Waste Not's Expansion Project

Formed in 2001, the BHHS Legacy Foundation and its Affiliates awarded $686,700 in grants in 2009 to organizations in the Greater Phoenix Region that provide healthcare and basic essential needs.

Recognizing the tremendous need brought about by our Valley’s economic crisis, BHHS Legacy Foundation joined forces with Waste Not to support our 2008 / 2009 expansion of our service area. In 2010 they remain steadfast in their support – covering all costs associated with our expansion to the west side of the Valley.

We are very grateful for BHHS Legacy Foundation’s partnership which has allowed us to bring hope and nutrition to many more of our neighbors in need.  Thank you.

Boeing

Boeing Employees Community Fund

Waste Not is grateful for Boeing’s presence in our community.  Their Employees Community Fund in Mesa collectively supports the needs of the local community through grants. Through a volunteer Board of Directors composed of Boeing employees, Mesa ECF funds programs in the areas of health, education, social services and community enrichment.

Since 1999 Boeing employees have granted Waste Not nearly $30,000 – faithfully supporting Waste Not’s deliveries so that the hungry men, women and children that our recipient agency partners feed and empower can get their nutritional needs consistently met.  We recognize your dedication to the most vulnerable in our community.  Thank you ECF.

The primary mission of our community relations program is to leverage our global resources and diverse talent to enhance educational opportunities, support health and human services and respect the environment in communities where we live and work.

I-ology

I-ology

I-ology is the unique, vibrant web development company that partnered with Waste Not to create our new, visually stunning and interactive website which we launched in August 2010.  Along with a grant from the Arizona Community Foundation, I-ology provided in-kind services to create a more user-friendly site which allows Waste Not to also benefit from social media platforms and on-line fundraising.

Trends Charitable Fund

New Truck New Truck

Trends Charitable Fund

The mission of the Trends Charitable Fund is "to support programs in need that positively impact women, children and their families where TCF can make a significant difference."

For their 2009-2010 funding cycle, TCF awarded grants totaling $300,000 to nine agencies within the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Waste Not was honored with a grant of $80,000 to support the purchase of a new truck and the salary of an additional driver for 2009. Enabling Waste Not to expand its service area is a blessing beyond measure. Our need for expansion comes at a time of greatest urgency as the economic downturn has placed unprecedented demand upon the agencies Waste Not serves. In recognizing this, TCF has truly taken ownership with Waste Not in our most vital mission of feeding the hungry men, women and children of our Valley. Our trucks are not just metal and rubber, but vehicles of hope. Their generous support will indeed make a significant difference in the number of lives we touch on a daily basis.

We extend our most heartfelt thanks to everyone at TCF!
