Celebrity Chef Challenge
Celebrity Chef Challenge Raises Record $85,000
Media celebrities and local restaurant chefs participating in Waste Not’s 17th annual Celebrity Chef Challenge raised a record-setting $85,642 to help feed the Valley’s hungry. The fundraiser, which took place throughout April, paired local television, radio and print news personalities with Valley restaurants in a friendly competition to see who could sell the most featured items. Half of the proceeds from all featured items sold during April benefited Waste Not.
“We are thrilled to have broken all records this year! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our media and restaurant partners for their unparalleled support and generosity, as well as to Valley residents who made it a point to visit participating restaurants throughout the month of April,” said Dee Mitten, Waste Not’s executive director. “This tremendous support helps Waste Not continue its vital mission of feeding the hungry men, women and children of our Valley.”
Celebrity Chef pairings and restaurant servers received their awards at a reception held on May 11, hosted by Olive & Ivy Restaurant + Marketplace, emceed by Ron Hoon, FOX 10. The following is a listing of the 2007 winners:
